6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM

Although Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a progressive and potentially fatal and debilitating disease, we do have effective therapies. PH is commonly encountered by pulmonologists, cardiologists, rheumatologists, pediatricians, and internal medicine healthcare providers. There is a tremendous need for education of licensed care providers regarding how to evaluate patients with PH especially in the presence of other comorbidities including lung or rheumatologic diseases. Through national data bases, it is clear that the proper diagnostic tests needed to properly classify PH occurs in only 6% of patients diagnosed with this disease, leaving tremendous potential for therapeutic misadventure. Responses from attendees of prior Yale Pulmonary Hypertension Symposium have also reinforced the need for more education on the topic.
